Project Development and Certification
The projects developed by the GEI are small and medium sized undertakings initiated in order to enhance climate-change and environmental awareness in addition to straightforward GHG reduction. We work with distant communities, educational institutions, towns and cities, non-profit organizations, factories and business companies to create projects that complement the UN’s CDM scheme for large-scale, centralized GHG reduction.
Projects are developed and reported according to the the World Resource Institution guidelines. Carbon calculations include baseline fixation, baseline adjustments, carbon insurance, monitoring and verification. An additional procedure - often absent from voluntary carbon projects – is a certification process carried out by a neutral, third party academic group that criticizes the calculations. Suitable projects are awarded the “Shomer Aklim” (Climate Guard) Standard, eliminating the danger of double counting, and reducing the chance for selling poor quality, unaccounted carbon credits.
